The Mutual Ministry Committee via the advocacy format shall:
- Serve as a personal and confidential support group to the Synod staff;
- Serve as an open communications channel between the various Synod constituents and the Synod staff;
- Serve as agents of reconciliation in time of conflict; and
- Monitor the well-being of the Synod staff.
The Mutual Ministry Committee was established in May 2007 with the first order of business being the creation of guidelines suitable for use at the synodical level. It was determined that the committee would meet with the staff members on an annual basis employing a round table format to discuss concerns, and the well-being of the staff. The committee continues to emphasis the need for self care and monitors the workload and wellness of the Synod staff. The committee can be convened at any time during the year should the situation warrant.
With the exception of the chair each committee member is an advocate for a designated staff member (See list below). The advocate monitors the well-being of the staff member both on a personal level and in the work environment by meeting with her/him on a regular basis throughout the year.
The committee met November 21, 2007; March 14, 2008; September 4, 2008; March 18, 2009 and January 26, 2010.
These meetings continue to weave a web of trust and respect between the individual members of the committee and allows for conversations in support of an individual that might not otherwise take place.
If you have any accolades or concerns with a Synod staff member that you wish to bring forward, please contact the appropriate advocate or the chair. |
