Worship and advocacy resources are available on the GHDA website at www.elcic.ca/GHDA. HIV/AIDS can be stopped and it can be prevented. Brrrrrr! Who wants to think of summer right now when it's almost 30 below!??! But please do! Take a minute to start thinking about next spring and summer...in particular, think about working in a meaningful, perhaps life-changing ministry, in the wilderness at Luther Village. Or, think about someone who may be a great addition to the staff team for the 2008 season! Program Leaders, counselors, lifeguards, kitchen assistants, property manager, maintenance assistants. Applications will be available on the Luther Village website January 1/08, or via a link here in CrossWord. If you want more information now, email or call Kim at the camp office. |

| Friendship Group A Big Hit! | |
In the spring of 2005, a Friendship Group was formed to provide faith and fellowship for individuals with special needs. With the hope of having at least 10 Friends gather together, we ended up with 14 Friends from surrounding communities joining us at the start. Presently, we now have 23 Friends that join together for music, bible time and crafts! This has become a big hit and is always an evening of excitement!! Believe me, if your energy level happens to be on the low side when the evening starts, it is definitely on the high side when you leave!!! |

| Take Back Christmas | |
Have you ever asked your children, spouse, parents or friend what they wanted for Christmas? And in turn, did they ask you the same thing? Do we then start trying to think of something
we want and don’t have? We get caught up in
what we don’t have and sort of imagine what
things that we might need or want.
The Christmas season actually seems to
make it worse. When we are asked to come
up with things we don’t need so that people
will know what to get us seems counterproductive
to the meaning of Christmas. We
forget that most people we know have many
things, but we buy them more because it’s
Christmas. |

| Christ Meets Humanity Where People Struggle for Justice and Peace | |
2007 Christmas Message from LWF President Mark Hanson "Christ meets us where the creation groans in travail under the weight of our consumptive living. Christ meets us where the Word is read, the gospel proclaimed, and the sacraments shared," says the LWF president in the message addressed to members of the global Lutheran communion. Hanson is presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Affirming God's presence in the world and unconditional offer for justice, he adds, "Because God is present in the world, there is no person so lowly, no place so forsaken, no enemy so despised, no conflict so intense, no sin so grievous, no relationship so severed that God cannot offer forgiveness and faith, reconciliation and resurrection, justice and mercy, healing and hope." The full text of Bishop Hanson's Christmas message follows. It is available on the LWF Web site in PDF version at: http://www.lutheranworld.org/LWF_Documents/ |
