Congregational and Pastoral updates

One of the items that people have asked to be included in Crossword is a report of congregations/pastoral changes. This report indicates only changes or information received by Synod Office in regards to congregational and pastoral situations. It does not include a report on every parish in every conference. Perhaps we can hear about your congregation in upcoming Crossword editions.

As we go into summer mode let us remember and pray for all congregations as they minister in the rest and renewal stage of the year.

Congratulations to our Grade 12 Grads

Congregations are invited to send a list of those from your congregation (along with addresses) who are graduating this week. Rev. Larry Ulrich, Assistant to the Bishop for Youth Ministry, would be delighted to send them a letter of congratulations. Please send the list to lurich@elcic.ca.

Lutheran Urban Ministry Celebrates

Around 70 people gathered this past Sunday, June 24, to give thanks for the ministry of Pastor David Lowe with LUM.

The service included special music on piano, guitar and bagpipes, and prayers of thanksgiving from many in the community for what Lutheran Urban Ministry has meant to them, what Pastor David's ministry has meant to them, and for God's Spirit to be with Denise Warren, the new Ministry Manager.

The faithful volunteers organized the celebration that followed, which included a toast, a special presentation, and a real favourite, food from a hot-dog cart.

Pastor David, in his remarks, thanked the community who have been a special support to him, particularly during the times when his parents were ill, and to the volunteers that have worked so faithfully to help run the programming at LUM. Pastor David challenged the community to invite their friends to make certain that LUM continues to be a vital, serving community of God's people.
