ELCIC Steward newsletter

Summer is here, which means that it is time to sit outside, unwind and play a little in the sun. Summer is also an important time for stewardship. For many congregations the summer is a time of financial worry, with more people on vacation and less in the pews giving is often down. This means that it is a good time for churches to begin thinking about PAR (no, not the golf par rather Pre-Authorized Remittance also known as Pre-Authorized Donation). PAR has become an important part of stewardship, not only because it helps increase and stabilize giving, it is also important because it helps develop the very important stewardship principle of planning ahead how we can use and give of our financial resources.

Summer is also the time of beginning to dream and plan for the year to come. By now each of your congregations will have received our stewardship resources sample pack and in this newsletter I will provide an overview of what we sent you. This year, we are beginning to look at how we can improve these resources, which we develop with the Ecumenical Stewardship Centre, so once you have had a chance to look at and use these materials please send me your reviews.
