| Best Practices for Congregational Stewardship | |
Annual Meeting Time As congregational councils and congregations approach Annual Meeting time, a significant portion of time is taken up reviewing where things “ended up” financially for 2007, and working on the proposed budget for 2008. What do those budgets say about priorities for your congregational mission and ministry? Perhaps some findings from an ELCA study on the “Best Practices for Congregational Stewardship” might be helpful for your council to consider. |

| Sites of the Reformations Study Tour, May 14-31, 2008 | |
Here is a wonderful opportunity to visit the historic sites of the various reformations that occurred in Europe in the Sixteenth Century. We will visit the birthplace of the Lutheran, Anabaptist and Reformed Reformations, led by people like Martin Luther, Phillip Melanchthon, Huldrych Zwingli, Conrad Grebel, Felix Manz, John Calvin and Martin Bucer. The tour leaders are Dr. Gordon A. Jensen, the Associate Professor of Reformation History and Theology, Lutheran Theological Seminary Saskatoon (LTS), and Ms. Barbara Groote, a student at LTS and Research Assistant for Dr. Jensen. Participants may also take this course for academic credit if desired, as long as the tuition fee of $550 is paid and registration forms are filled in by the appropriate deadlines. |

Jack and Val Frederick are planning another trip to Cameroon. Before they go, they will travel to Minneapolis on January 31. They hope to fill their Honda CRV to the hilt with supplies that will be shipped to N'gaoundéré, Cameroon. Global Health Ministries http://www.ghm.org/ sends large containers of supplies to hospitals throughout the world. The container(s) will be loaded on February 2 in Minneapolis and then ship on February 4 for arrival by the latest mid April. When Jack and Val arrive in Cameroon, they will distribute the items. | Message from Pastor Matthew Diegel | |
Eline Diegel has received notification that she has been accepted for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer School this coming July. If her programme is successful, she will be invited to be a full-time student in the fall. One step at a time... If anyone knows of Winnipeg pastors willing in July to let me housesit during their vacation, in return for me leading worship/preaching (free) in their congregations, let me know! |

| Oops! | |
| As a result of a mix up, MNO pastors received the US version of the complimentary "little red date book" from Augsburg Fortress that was mailed out by the synod office last week. Your conference deans now have copies of the correct Canadian version. Please excuse the mistake and get your copy from your dean. |
