Context:
The Centre for Christian Studies (CCS), a theological school with roots in The Anglican Church of Canada and The United Church of Canada, educates women and men for ministry that seeks to transform the church and the world toward wholeness, justice, and compassion. Staff, students, and volunteers are expected to uphold the school’s commitment to be an inclusive organization and community in which all people are treated with dignity and respect. Function:
As part of a staff team of eight, the Principal is to provide leadership for the theological education program offered by the Centre for Christian Studies. The Centre for Christian Studies (CCS) has a motto: Living a Theology of Justice. Thus each member of staff is considered equal in terms of responsibility for collegial well being, mutual accountability, and mutual empowerment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the culture of justice, the Principal, with direction from the Central Council and in cooperation with the staff team, will ensure the overall effectiveness of CCS in fulfilling its mission by:
1. Building and maintaining a congenial and well functioning institution in cooperation with staff and volunteers.
2. Fostering a collegial, non hierarchical form of administration and education.
3. Supporting staff, students and volunteers, recognising that each one has a mutual
responsibility for the welfare of the whole community.
4. Recruiting and advising students, and ensuring appropriate documentation.
5. Acting as a resource and administrative support to Central Council and its committees.
6 Maintaining an overview of and appropriate participation in program planning,
development and some teaching.
7. Offering leadership in budget planning, financial management and reporting.
8. Offering leadership and expertise for financial development, fundraising and
strengthening the network.
9. Representing CCS and its interests to the churches, in relationships with other
theological schools, other institutions and to the broader public.
10.Taking initiative for public relations with graduates, Friends and churches.
The work of the Principal requires extended periods of travel, and a balancing of internal and external affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS
-demonstrated commitment to diaconal and lay ministries
-understanding and appreciation of experiential education
-theological education (preference will be given to applicants at a post-graduate level)
-familiarity with Anglican and United Church communities and congregational/ parish leadership and polities
-demonstrated commitment to feminist and liberation theologies and social analysis
-willingness to be accountable to CCS theological, educational, and justice stances
-experience with word processing, data base systems and Internet applications

Remuneration and Terms:
This is a full-time permanent position. Remuneration (based on current salary scale) is $58,312 per year. The benefit package is the standard CCS staff benefit program through The United Church of Canada or the Anglican Church of Canada (health, dental, life, pension, etc.)

The workload of this position will require flexibility and willingness to meet critical deadlines in support of other staff and volunteers. This position is based in Winnipeg.

Accountability:
This position is accountable to the Central Council of the Centre for Christian Studies through the Human Resources Committee and the staff team. Staff will carry out their work within a team model. This model involves mutual support and accountability and relating to one’s colleagues as peers.
