GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Graphic and Publications Assistant works closely with the Director of Publications in the creative development and production of all Providence College and Seminary promotional materials. This may include original design and artwork, team design, web design, photography, and pre-press layout. In addition, this individual is responsible for producing the College Yearbook. This is a key role at Providence and adds a major contribution towards the school’s public image.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Graphic Design
Design promotional materials for Providence College and Seminary, both in a team setting and as instructed by the Director of Publications
Yearbook:
Design and produce the College yearbook
Organize and supervise the yearbook committee
Assist the Director of Publications in other assignments such as photography sessions, coverage of events, etc.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Publications.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Training/ability to do full-colour graphic design
Training/ability with graphic software (Adobe CS3/Corel Draw/Photopaint
Training/ability in digital photography
Professional experience preferred
Knowledge of marketing and advertising, as well as experience with Flash and video editing an asset
Ability to write well and use proper grammar an additional asset
Good communication skills, both verbal and written are essential
Initiative, enthusiasm, and a desire to work as a team are important characteristics for this role.
WORK ARRANGEMENT:
This is a full time position with a 37.5 hour per week work schedule. Normal business hours are 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday Friday (two 15 minute coffee breaks; 45 minutes for lunch). Some after hours and weekend work may be required.
