Checked the Cameroon Companions website recently?

The MNO Companion Synod Committee has designated Sunday, September 30 as the Sunday to launch the Cameroon Companions program across our Synod. Watch for a packet of materials that will come to your congregation within the next couple of weeks.

Back in 2003, we began this special partnership with the Lutheran Church in the Cameroon, which was a natural fit for our Synod, since Pastor Etienne and Jeanne Fomgbami and family resided on our Synod territory during the three years when they were the Good News Partners to our ELCIC.

Just by way of clarification, some of you may have received an email regarding the possibility of helping to provide funding for Samuel Fomgbami to come to Canada to study. This is a private request and is not part of the Cameroon Companions initiative.

Going Barefoot

Mark the Date for Going Barefoot, an October 19, 2007
Conference for Church & Non-Profit Group Communicators!

A One-Day Conference at Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, Manitoba

To be barefoot is to be free and open to new possibilities. But it also leaves you vulnerable; if you stub a toe or step on a sharp rock, it can really hurt. It's an apt description for the world of communications today--looking for new opportunities, but always aware that if you make a misstep, things can go badly wrong.

How can communicators approach the new world of new marketing strategies, blogs, web, e-mail and other new media with a sense of purpose, confidence, excitement and energy? Come to Going Barefoot: Entering a Brave New World of Communication to find out!

DAN BJORNSON MEMORIAL YOUTH GAMES/MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM
The next exciting project for Luther Village is the Youth Games/Multipurpose room being built in memory of Dan Bjornson, a long time camper who passed away suddenly in 2004. A committee was struck to organize this project and to do separate fundraising for this. The target amount has been raised to begin construction of the building which will start in the Fall of this year! The building will be located where the existing chalet lounge is currently located.

If anyone would like to assist with this building project, which will be built by volunteers, the weekends of Sept. 7-9 and 14 - 16 have been set for this project. The week between this, Sept 10-14, is open to volunteers out to build as well. We will provide lodging and meals in exchange for the work you provide! A dedication service is planned for Sun. Sept. 16, in the afternoon. If anyone would like to donate to this fund, you are welcome to do so. Call Luther Village for more information at 807.543.4052. Thank you for walking together with us into the future at Luther Village!
