1. Highlights during the last biennium including information about ecumenical/wider church partnerships as well as tasks and/or events that focus on ministry that is fulfilling in God’s mission in the world, and what God has been doing through our committee work and mandate.
- Development of electronic learning modules which have been posted to MNO synod website (http://www.mnosynod.org/chrisedcurriculum.html) - e-learning modules were developed particularly with rural settings in mind – these congregations have historically been less likely to attend workshops, and these modules were seen to be more accessible for rural/remote congregations
- Curriculum consultation (mostly for Sunday School age group) – ongoing
- E-communication with congregations via group email, CE network, and Crosswords
About Christian Education opportunities and resources
- Fanta’s Orphans, now renamed Kids Helping Kids (KHK) – an introductory letter,
background informational document, maps of Africa and Cameroon, poster, and DVD were mailed to all MNO synod congregations mid Feb. 2010
- Intent of this package going to congregations, and especially to Sunday Schools, is to increase their awareness of this work, to encourage them to pray for the orphans in Cameroon, to communicate with KHK through email and photos, and to consider providing financial support to KHK.
2. Mission and Ministry initiatives in the next biennium that address our theme and vision: In Mission With Others – Led by God’s Word:
The CE Committee has identified Kids Helping Kids (KHK) as its primary focus for 2010-2012. In 2010, we will begin development of resources that could be used in conjunction with the Kids Helping Kids DVD package mailed in Feb. 2010:
- an e-module focusing on “Connecting Kids to their World” which would link with the KHK project
- a KHK web page on MNO Synod website with regular updates from the KHK leadership in Cameroon (Fanta & William) as well as photos of the KHK project (possibly capability to offer two-way communication between KHK and MNO congregations)
