| Organization Structure and Governance |
| The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) was formed in 1986 through the merger of the former Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada (ELCC) and Lutheran Church in America-Canada Section (LCA-CS). The ELCIC has 138,269 baptized members in 550 congregations across Canada.
Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario (MNO) Synod is one of five Synods of the ELCIC. The Synod covers 61 congregations in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario (as far east as Thunder Bay) and has a baptized membership of 18,000
The decision making body of the MNO Synod is the biennial convention. The voting delegates to convention are MNO Synod Rostered Ministers, elected members of congregations, lay members on MNO Synod Council and 14 youth delegates (2 elected by each of the 7 conferences). The Convention elects 14 Synod Council members (with 4 year terms) to do visioning and the business of the synod between conventions. Within the Synod Council is the Synod Executive, consisting of the Bishop, Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. The remaining council members are made up of one lay person from each of the seven conferences and three members-at-large who are rostered ministers. Synod Council meets 2 to 3 times per year, and the Synod Executive meets approximately once per month.
Within the MNO Synod are 7 conferences listed below, representing the different areas that the Synod covers. Each Conference elects a Dean from the list of rostered ministers in the conference. The 7 Deans meet with the Synodical Bishop once or twice per year. |

 |
| Synod Council oversees 6 committees, each with their own mandate. The 6 committees are as follows: |
